For the first time outside of Europe, the 2007 Formula 18 catamaran world championships are to be hosted in Australia from February 18 to 25.

Located at Rydges Capricorn International Resort in Yeppoon, between the Great Barrier Reef and the Outback, this will be a great holiday as well as great racing.

The F18 is the world’s fastest growing class of sailing boat, due to a formula that multiple manufacturers can build to, providing large class numbers and close racing. Featuring a spinnaker, self-tacking jib, square top mainsail, and two crew on trapeze, the F18 is fast paced and spectacular to watch.

Between 80-120 boats are expected in an exciting week of fast and tight racing between some of the worlds best sailors, including Gold, Silver and Bronze Olympic medallists from many parts around the world including Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

With racing located close to the resort and easily accessible for spectators, the 2007 worlds offers an all-in-one regatta location where competitors can sail, socialize and sleep all within walking distance making this world championships ideal for those wanting to party, or entertain a family.

Rydges boasts one of the largest swimming pools in Australia alongside a popular championship golf course with dozens of activities at and near the resort. Outside of the resort, the beachside town of Yeppoon has plenty of entertainment, with the beautiful Great Keppel Island only a ferry ride away with snorkelling and diving trips to surrounding reefs are easily accessible.

More information plus accommodation details for Rydges are available through the 2007 F18 Worlds website at www.2007f18worlds.com
