The Wilgermein family, who span four generations, launched their new Bavaria 46 Cruiser at the weekend.
Standing under umbrellas in the pouring rain, they excitedly watched Bella Rosa as she was gently lowered into the water at Pier 21. Jointly owned by two generations, she’ll be out on the water as often as they can find the time and in between her commitments as a charter boat with CharterLink.
Once in the water, she was brought round to International Marine’s sales berth, where family and friends were able to get out of the rain and inspect her down below. After a few nibbles and drinks, Norman Gee of IMB and Rob Thexton of CharterLink, motored her over to the charter base in Bayswater Marina. Ovlov will be running her engine test on the water this week and then on Saturday, weather permitting, IMB will take do the official handover. We’re hoping for a lovely sunny day with a steady breeze so we can put her through her paces.
As a four cabin Bavaria, there will be plenty of room for the babies as well as the grandparents. She comes equipped as the standard 46 Cruiser, but with the addition of a C70 Chartplotter by Raymarine and an autopilot.
She brings the total number of Bavaria 46s in NZ to seven. Two are entered in this year’s Coastal Classic and next year’s Short Handed Trans Tasman Race.
