Young sailors ready for 2001 US Youth Multihull Championship

It’s just about time for the 2001 US Youth Multihull Championship for the Hoyt-Jolley Trophy, and eight teams are anxiously waiting to hit the Spray Beach Yacht Club, in Beach Haven, NJ in their Hobie Cat 16s. The event will run May 31-June 3, 2001.
The participating teams are John Keenan and Matthews Keenan (Atlantic
Highlands, MA); Bobby Keller (Ridgefield, CT) and Brian Wilkes (Florham
Park, NJ); Rene Kelly (Huntingtown, MD) and Eric Smith (Annapolis, MD); Marc
Kennedy (Davison, MI) and Lindsay Hall (Macomb, MI); Todd Riccardi (Madison,
CT) and Ross DeMay (Meriden, CT); Anders Straume (Reading, MA) and Hunter
Stunzi (Marblehead, MA); Brett Sullivan and Samantha Simon (Aberdeen, NJ);
Trevor Capps (Shalimar, FL) and Thomas Sukalski (Fort Walton Beach, FL); Sam
Weiksnar and Rebecca Schwartz (Manhattan Beach, CA); and Thomas Tullo
(Staten Island, NY) and Daniel Leone (Toms River, NJ).
The event is open to all youth (girls, boys, or mixed teams); team members
must be less than 19 years old in 2001.
Winners of the 2001 US Youth Multihull Championship will qualify for the
2001 ISAF Youth World Championship in Crozon-Morgat, France on July 2-12.
This is only the third time in history that multihulls have been included at
the World Youth Championship. The winners will become members of the US
Junior Sailing Team. Team members receive advanced coaching prior to the
World Championship.
