Nick Craig (GBR) retains OK top world ranking
by Rob Deaves on 1 Jul 2006
In the latest OK Dinghy International Association World Ranking List - issued 30 June 2006 - In spite of not sailing a ranking event since the Toshiba World Championship in February, Nick Craig (GBR) retains his number one spot thanks to his two successive world championship wins.
In fact the top 10 remans the same, although second place Jorgen Lindhardtsen (DEN) has closed the gap on Craig to just 20 points. With Craig just sailing the Europeans this year in order to focus on his Finn sailing, a new leader is a real possibility this summer.
Due to the timing of events, the ranking list has been heavily weighted in
favour of the Antipodes so far this year, so the next ranking list issued after the European Champinships in France at the end of July, could see quite a few changes.
For the first time since it was started, the ranking list now includes over 300 sailors from 10 nations, underlining the strength of the class worldwide.
