This weekend's Glyn Charles Memorial Pursuit Race, run by Hayling Island Sailing Club on Saturday 17 June, was an absolute classic with 120 dinghy and keelboat entries enjoying closely fought racing around Chichester Harbour.

Photographer Steve Arkley captured the essence of the mix of boats at the Glyn Charles Pursuit Race at Hayling Island - from Mirrors to 29er, 800s to Elites and Sunbeams and including a Thames A Rater, Devon Yawl and Volvo 60. . !

And that Volvo 60?

Glyn’s great friends Liz and Mark Rushall have always played an important role in organising this race and were hugely disappointed when they realised they could not be present this year.

Being the resourceful types they are this wasn’t going to stop them competing and so, thanks to the support of Andrew Pindar, Liz and Mark entered the Pindar AlphaGraphics VO60, starting from a Newport, Rhode Island line and using a special local correction factor (much to the relief of the Chichester Harbour Master who seemed to be slightly worried about the prospect of a VO60 inside the harbour!).

Special thanks to all the 120 crews that raced this year and to our fantastic prize donors Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, Basilica, Gill, Dubarry, Henri Lloyd, Musto, Holt, Scott, TackTick, ABN AMRO, Steve Arkley, Skandia, Offshore Challenges, Ingrid Abery, Rick Tomlinson, Dinghy Sailing Magazine, Seahorse, www.thedailysail.com, Yachts & Yachting, APP, Camper & Nicholsons Yachting Ltd, Conrad Humphries, Winning Tides.
