Navigation software advances from Raymarine

If your vessel is fitted with Raymarine instrumentation - as an increasing number of power and sailboats are in Australia and S E Asia - the new RayTech V6 advanced navigation software suite will bring new capabilities to your hardware. It is a powerful PC based program that uses SeaTalk networking to support and share information with radar, digital fishfinder, charts and navigation data.

One of the advantages is that you can plan your passage at home then transfer the data on board. A single Ethernet connection links your PC to the E Series network switch – or RayTech V6 can be accessed on board via the high resolution, sunlight viewable M1500 15' monitor and dedicated navigation keyboard.

This keyboard has special keys and cursor features that make for easier access to important functions and information – such as the in-built worldwide tide and current database.

The software will be particularly welcome down under due to the fact that it has so many features that are suited to our many racing yachts, cruise boat owners who go on extended voyages, the proliferation of serious leisure fishing boats and number of game boat operators.

Among new SailRacer performance tools is the capability to monitor wind, lay lines, other boats and weather to track the best course. Also, DataTrak time-based graphics show real time performance against instrument data and vessel speed. Other data collection and analysis functions will definitely give the serious racing sailor the edge!

On extended voyages, a host of features will make for easier cruising – including supporting Navionics Gold and the multi-platform Platinum cartography.

Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the new HD Digital fishfinding playback feature which enables users to record and play images from the on board fishfinder.

And all will value the new animated weather forecast features.

With such a sophisticated piece of software it is good to know that RayTech V6 is marketed by Oceantalk, a company with expert product knowledge born of a long history of marketing Raymarine technology in Australia and Asia.
