NZLYT Auckland Suva, Pussy Galore leads Premiers

Pussy Galore the Cookson 50 skippered by Anatole Masfen continues to lead the Premier or racing division in the NZL Yachting Trust Auckland Suva race. She is eight miles ahead of her canting keel rival – the Elliott 50, Sportivo (Wayne Tomlinson).

Both yachts are making excellent progress now that the headwinds and big seas have moderated and swung. However the margin between them has changed little since the last sked.

The reports from the yachts in the Cruising divisions indicated that they had WSW winds. Trance reported a southerly at about 20 knots, and all yachts were expected to start starting to Fiji.

Bullrush was flying a small spinnaker.

Race organisers expect the winds to shift to SSW and blow at about 15 knots which should make an easy ride.

Truxton which withdrew from the race for unknown reasons arrived home early this morning
