API Midnight leading Air Niugini fleet north

API Midnight - 2001 Coral Sea Classic Al Constable
The Air Niugini Coral Sea Classic fleet is currently sailing in light NE/NW winds tracking through the Trinity Passage and heading north to Osprey Reef.
At 8pm. the Star Track satellite tracking system showed that Laurie Needham’s 45 foot PNG sloop , API Midnight, is 13 nm N of Trinity Passage, 50 miles into the 450 miles Cairns to Port Moresby race.
API Midnight , the 2000 Hamilton Island PHS winner is leading on handicap from the back-marker Coriolis, currently 7 nm N of Pixie Reef .
In third place on handicap is Townsville Yacht Club’s Commodore Clive Scott’s Harrier only 6 miles behind the line honours leader.
Farr Better, having suffered the indignity of the Trinity inlet mud for almost an hour is 6 miles behind the other Farr’s Harrier & Racketeer.
