Australian-based Azzura Yachts, a brand of Azzura Marine, has recently launched its latest evolution in traditional styled motor yachts. Making her public debut at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2006, Cambria II reflects the true definition of a custom yacht.

At 30.48m (100ft) she is the second custom motor yacht of this size to be constructed at Azzura Marine’s facilities on Queensland’s Gold Coast. This exceptional and unique motor yacht was designed and built to reflect the golden era of yachting.

While her owner actively drove the concept and style of his yacht, the fine craftsmanship of Cambria II comes from a team comprised of Azzura Marine’s Iain Murray, who worked on her external design; Thomas Hamel, on creating her interior design; and Azzura Yachts on the construction of the vessel.

The retro style of Cambria II was inspired by the owner’s previous landmark rebuild project of the 1928 Fife K-Class yacht, Cambria. Distinguished by her elegant and captivating style, Cambria II emulates the charm and grace of this classical sailing yacht.

The design goal for Cambria II was to adapt a classic style that was comfortable, yet as simple and clean as possible. Her traditional lines on the outside, combined with her period interior styling, have resulted in her affinity with a bygone era. As the owner often stated – let us give the passenger a feeling of a comfortable yacht not a luxury hotel.

To create a warm, welcoming environment for luxury cruising, the interior of Cambria II places a firm emphasis on refined Edwardian styling. The extensive use of rich mahogany, along with elegant antique furnishings and carefully selected fabrics and carpet, add opulence to her otherwise simple detailing. ‘The brief was to make something quite harmonious and subtle as if it has evolved over time, not just moved in yesterday,’ Mr Hamel said.

Despite her traditional appearance, Cambria II utilises modern material and technology in her construction.

Cambria II was designed to operate in tropical conditions around northern Australia, so emphasis was placed on the engineering and electrical, air-conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, stabilizers, etc.

Keeping the market for adventure cruises in mind, in particular The Kimberley, charterers will be able to cruise and sleep in comfort and style and yet by day indulge in sightseeing, photography, fishing and pearling adventures and helicopter exploration of the region.

With meticulous attention given to detail, Cambria II epitomises the exceptional quality, design, craftsmanship and reliability for which Azzura Yachts has become renown.

Destined to set the standard for the modern incarnation of traditional design, Cambria II will continue to charm her guests with old-world style, elegance and class.

This stunning yacht will be sure to stand out in the crowd.
