2006 will see Guernsey host both the inaugural British rowing championships and the FISA World coastal rowing championships, these events will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of September and will form the largest rowing event held in the area.
Guernsey is situated approximately 80 miles south of England and 30 miles west of the France. It is the second largest of the Channel Islands, it's East Coast having views of sister Islands, Alderney, Herm, Sark, and the largest Channel Island, Jersey. These range between 3 and 20 miles away.
Guernsey covers an area of 24 square miles, with a population of approximately 60,000. It's capital St Peter Port, has a bustling environment with many café’s, shops, bars and restaurants. The Harbour and Marina’s are conveniently located within walking distance of the town centre. During the summer months, St Peter Port welcomes many cruise ships and visiting yachtsmen.
Guernsey has easy and frequent sea and air links all year round, travel by fast ferry from Poole and Weymouth or St Malo via Jersey, also by traditional ferry from Portsmouth. Flights available from Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Jersey, Dinard, St Brieuc and more.
We look forward to meeting fellow rowers and supporters and hope you enjoy you time in Guernsey.
