Fresh from winning its second consecutive Australian Tourism Award, the Hahn Premium Hamilton Island Race Week has three exciting new sponsors, to compliment the current naming rights sponsor Hahn Premium.

Club Marine will join German luxury carmaker Audi as event co-sponsors and Swiss bank UBS will also join the sponsorship line up.

In 2007, Audi will take over the naming rights sponsorship of Race Week in a four-year deal.

Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Joerg Hofmann, said the new partnership positions Audi as one of the major corporate sponsors of sailing regattas in the country.

'Our goal is to become the main sponsor of competitive sailing events in Australia,' said Audi’s managing director, Joerg Hofmann.

'By securing vehicle and naming rights sponsorship of Hamilton Island Race Week, we are well on our way to achieving our goal.

'This key event, to become known as the Audi Race Week on Hamilton Island in 2007, adds a new dimension to our Audi Sailing Sport program, both in Australia and internationally where we are already a key partner in many of Europe’s most prestigious regattas,' Mr Hofmann said.

Hamilton Island’s owner Bob Oatley said the prestigious melding of the Hamilton Island brand with the new sponsors is very exciting for the growth of Race Week.

'As Australia’s largest offshore yachting regatta, we are very selective about our promotional partners, ensuring a perfect fit between the quality and integrity of their brand with the world-class event offering and hospitality at Race Week.

The 2006 Hamilton Island Race Week will be held from August 19 to 27 and will attract a fleet of more than 200 yachts in a number of racing classes. The event includes a variety of race formats as well as a lively social schedule including a Whitehaven beach party, street festival and parade, wine dinners and a myriad of off-the-water entertainment
