Points of significance in the team are that the bulk of the Junior Boys Eight have been drawn from the Gold and Bronze medallist crews at Maadi. Josiah Lester and Jared Pehi (Hamilton Boys) who came away with Gold medal in the BU18 2- and BU18 4+ and a Bronze in the BU18 8+ have been selected in the Boys Junior Eight.

Takpuna Grammar's Henry Poor, winner of the BU17 and BU18 Single at Maadi has been selected to contest the Double Sculls event along with Jamie Orsbourn who won a Gold medal in the BU162X at Maadi. Poor is also a young rower, only turning 17, a week or two after Maadi and has another year at Junior level.

In the Girls selections the honours seem to have been evenly spread, with two members of the Wanganui Collegiate Gold medal crew in the Eights, Georgina Baker and Harriet Austin gaining selection. They also won a bronze medal in the GU18 4+ at Maadi.

Those selected will race in Amsterdam, the Netherlands at the World Rowing Junior Championships. 2 – 5 August 2006.
