HISC Easter Pennant series a winner

by GJN on 17 Apr 2006
Hayling Island SC HISC
The Pennant Weekend series at Hayling Island SC attracted over 80 boats to the racing over the Easter Saturday and Sunday, plus 55 for the RNLI Open Pursuit on Easter Monday

Following the Saturday blast, the weather was less frantic on Sunday. After an hour delay to allow more water in the harbour (and some more wind) racing got away in a gentle force 2 for the first race.

The second race was sailed in the best wind of the weekend a westerly force 3 to 4. With Optimist racing also taking place and plenty of members bringing their boats in for the new season, HISC was a busy place.

On Monday Bank Holiday it was the RNLI Open Pursuit Race and that attracted 55 boats. Whilst the 8-15 knot breeze didn't cause the competitors any problems it was the 10-15 degree shifts and the strong incoming tide that decided many of the positions.

Simon Payne sailing his foiler Moth won by an incredible 20 minutes leaving Mike Lennon and Robby Wells taking second position in their International Fourteen.
