NEW ZEALAND WOMEN'S KEELBOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Royal Akarana Yacht Club have made the NEW ZEALAND WOMEN'S KEELBOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS happen for the first time in three years. Special dispensation has been granted by Yachting New Zealand to allow the event to qualify as a National Event despite only having seven crews.
Representing the RNZYS are Karleen Dixon (RNZYS) & Jan Dawson (RNZYS) who both competed in the Squadron Ladies Tuesday series, also skippers Anna Barrington, Mel Rossaak, Fiona Macky, Sally Garrett and Sarah Kiff complete the line up. The teams will be racing on 1 & 2 April 2006.

MATIS NEW ZEALAND WOMEN'S MATCH RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Proudly supported by MATIS
Friday 7 - Sunday 9 April 2006 - racing start at 930am
9 Women's teams will compete for this years New Zealand Women's Match Racing title with the winning crew receiving an invitation to represent New Zealand at the Nations Cup Region G Qualifier hosted by the Squadron from 20 - 23 April, also sailed in the Elliott 6s.
Two Australian teams are heading over the ditch including the 2003 winner Katie Spithill (RPAYC) & Samantha Boyd representing the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's Youth Training Programme. This will be Sam's third match racing regatta after a 3rd & 6th in two women's match racing regatta's recently held at CYCA.
In the battle of the youth programme representatives Greta Thomsen representing the LION FOUNDATION Youth Training Programme will be sailing in her second match racing regatta after winning the RPNYC Loaded Hog cup in October last year.
Back to defend her title with the same team as last year is Jessica Smyth representing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. Jess most recently placed 3rd at the HARKEN Women's Match Racing Regatta in Sydney where Spithill placed 2nd - so the match-up at the top will be fierce.
Back into the competition is the 2000 Champion Amy Mulcahy (nee Waring). After observing during the Auckland Match Racing Cup in January, Amy has 'got the bug' and is keen to get back into women's match racing.
The RNZYS has hosted the New Zealand Women's Match Racing Championships since 2000 and are pleased to announce this years entries;
1 Katie Spithill (RPAYC), Stacey Jackson, Angela Farrell
2 Jessica Smyth (RNZYS), Sonya Swinburne, Anna de Fluiter
