S 045 Launch Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 Jeanneau
At Europe’s biggest boat show, the Düsseldorf Show in late January, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 was voted ‘European Yacht of the Year’ for yachts in the 12 to 14m size range.
The honour was bestowed by the Editors of 10 of the major European yachting magazines and this is a significant award considering the number of new designs in this size range that have been released in the past year. All yachts were assessed on design, sailing performance, comfort, price and workmanship.
The Sun Odyssey 45’s are already proving popular here in Australia and Performance Boating Sales, the sole New South Wales agents, have both layout versions available for viewing. Jeanneau have also announced a ‘performance’ version with 12% more sail area, a racing keel and numerous other performance enhancements for those wishing to club or twilight race.
Ex-commodore of the CYCA Bruce Moore has already taken delivery of his standard Sun Odyssey 45 along with four other Australian owners, including prominent member of the Sydney Yacht Squadron Bill Wood.
Several are expected to make the trip North to Hamilton Island Race Week this coming July and are expected to emulate Jeanneau’s success last year where they came first, second and third in the cruising division, and also won PHS.
