Wood top Kiwi after Day 2 of Toshiba OK Interdoms

by NZIOKDA on 9 Feb 2006
Current World champion, Nick Craig (GBR), leads the fleet around the weather mark on Day 2 of the 2006 Toshiba Australian OK Nationals and Interdominions Lynne Burton
Day two of racing in the 2006 Inter-dominion Championships brought similar conditions to the first day. The 20 knot sea breeze kicked in on the way to the starting area and had built to 25 knots by the end of the day.

Once again kiwi sailors had a good day, with Russell Wood and Alistair Deaves battling it out at the front in race one; Wood ending up 3rd and Deaves 4th. 6th place was Greg Wilcox.

Australia’s Roger Blasse won both races in the breezy conditions. Best kiwi in race two was Karl Purdie from Worser Bay in 5th place.

For the teams competition, New Zealand extended its lead over the Australians, with 8 of the top 14 places going to kiwis.

The forecast for the next two days is for similar breezy conditions.
