Murray and Palfrey third in Miami Stars

by Rob Kothe on 25 Jan 2006 After a sixth and a third place yesterday Iain Murray and Andrew Palfrey from Pittwater in Sydney, led the Star fleet racing on Biscayne Bay at the Rolex Miami OCR. This morning’s race they came 30th, buried all the way, hopefully that is their regatta drop.

They came back this afternoon with a fifth to be in third place overall behind 2005 US Star Champion George Szabo, who crewed with the Australian pairing at the 2005 Etchells Worlds in September, when they came third.

In second place is current Star World Champion Xavier Rohart with crew Pascal Rambeau.

New Zealanders Hamish Pepper and Carl Williams are sixth overall.

Australian’s Peter Conde and Andrew Hunn are 25th. Michael Jones and Peter Merrington are 48th. Michael Dunstan and Simon Reffold have a good view of the fleet ahead of them, They are currently in 61st place in the 70 boat fleet, carrying an OCS from the second race yesterday.
