Racing cancelled at IFDS World Championships

by Sail-World/G New on 25 Jan 2006
All racing was cancelled at the 2006 Alcoa IFDS World Disabled Sailing Championships in Perth, Tuesday, due to storm warnings for the area. This leaves just one day of sailing to complete the series..

With both classes finely balanced the Royal Perth Yacht Club, who are hosting the regatta, will try and run three races in the time remaining - there should have been four to complete the 11 race series.

For Briton´s Helen Lucas in the 2.4mR it will be critical that the three are sailed in order to be able to claim another discard - Lucas was disqualified from race six and that is her dicard at the moment. With the leader, Bjornar Erikstad (NOR) five points ahead Lucas will need all the races to overhaul her, and you can be sure Erikstad will be protecting her advantage.

In the Sonar Britain's John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Stephen Thomas are level on points with Germany's Jens Kroker, Holger Schoenberg and Tobias Schuetz. So again it could be a match-race situation, but both could loose out to the Australian Jamie Dunross and crew, or the Norwegian Jostein Stordahl just a few points behind them.
