Briton and Norway lead at IFDS Worlds

After day four of the 2006 Alcoa IFDS World Disabled Sailing Championships Briton´s Sonar team, John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Stephen Thomas, are tied in first place with the German team of Jens Kroker/Schoenberg/Schuetz.

After races six and seven the two leading teams retain their overall positions but the opposition made considerable gains. Jostein Stordhal of Norway won both of the days races and is now fourth overall, five points behind the leading pair. In third ovearall is Australia´s Jamie Dunross and his Royal Perth YC crew of Colin Harrison and Graeme Martin, who are four points off the leaders after a third and second.

In the 2.4mR Bjorner Erikstad of Norway is the new leader after Briton´s Helen Lucas had her worst day so far in the series. Nick Scandone, USA, won the first race from Bruce Millar of Canada with Erikstad third. Lucas was DSQ for the race.

In race two Heiko Kroeger of Germany won with Erikstad taking second and thus the overall lead. Fabrizio Olmi of Italy was in third and Lucas in fourth to finish the day third overall after discarding the mornings result.

Four races remain.

American Magic sailed Tuesday revealing an interesting deck layout including aft facing cyclors American Magic rolled out their new AC75 at 5.45am on Tuesday, with the first set of slightly asymmetric race foils, rudder and rig all in place and revealing an interesting deck layout putting the helms and trimmers side by side and well forward.
