On 24th April this year, the 2006 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally will again depart from Istanbul, cruise down the coast of Turkey, then, with stops in Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt, will end in Herzliya, Israel on the 21st June.
The annual cruise has been operating since 1990, and last year - the 16th Rally - attracted more than 80 boats from many different countries. With all the documentation worries taken care of, and your welcome assured, this is an ideal way to cruise these greatly varying countries.
After cruising the coast of Turkey the rally will cruise on to Girne, in Northern Cyprus, then to Mersin and Iskenderun . After leaving Cyprus, the Rally yachts will visit the port of Lattakia in Syria, Jounieh Marina in Lebanon, Haifa and Herzliya Marinas in Israel, Port Said in Egypt and finally Ashkelon Marina in Israel as the last port.
Last year the 16th annual EMYR rally had yachts participating from 18 different countries all of whom completed the entire traditional EMYR route without any difficulties.
The Coast Guards of the countries and various municipalities along the way have been valuable to the rally providing security and often-technical assistance to the participants.
Park Kemer Marina in Kemer, Southern Turkey, is the sole sponsor of the EMYR
