RS-X class Day 1 Sail Melbourne

'On the first day of sailing at the 2006 Sail Melbourne regatta we were to
have 36 degrees and strong northerly winds. But as unpredictable as the
Melbourne weather can be, we woke to find overcast some what drizzly
and humid conditions.'

52 competitors, 13 countries; this is the first ISAF Grade One regatta
to be held using the Neilpryde RS:X. Hot competition with four of the top
ten ranked men attending. Number one ranked Ho Chi HO(HKG 6), fifth
ranked King Yin Chan(HKG 12), eighth placed Ricardo Giordano(ITA 12), and
tenth placed Kwok Fai Cheng(HKG 18), as well as previous Formula World
Champion Steve Allen(AUS 0). Included are the current Women's World Formula Champion Allison Shreeve(AUS911) as well as ISAF ranked Kong Wai Kei Chan(HKG
8) fifth and Wai Man Chan(HKG 26) sixth respectively.

David continues, '16:00 Monday the 9th of January, still on shore waiting to see if the conditions are going to steady up to start a race. First possible start tomorrow is at 12:00 hours.'
