WELCOME CRUISERS AND MOTOR YACHTIES
TO THE 2005 – 2006 SEASON
This is a reminder that the first races are on 19 November.
Cruisers start at Resolution at 1300 and Motor Yachts Islington Bay Red buoy 1100.
We will try and vary the destinations from those visited last season. However as always the weather is the major factor in that decision.

Following the races the prize giving will be held on the nearest and nicest beach. The signal to go ashore is seeing the drinks coffin and provisions being ferried.

To add some hilarity to the proceedings there is to be a limerick competition. The subject to be your boat or your crew or both. It must be Iambic Pentameter. Naturally the judge’s opinion is final and unquestionable.

So…………looking forward to a fun time and praying for good weather, see you there. (with your limerick)

LION FOUNDATION YOUTH TRAINING PROGRAMME
National Keelboat Championships
The Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme team of Tom Powrie, Jono Rankine, Phil Robertson, Michael Naulls, Richard Kendall & David Wood put in a fantastic performance in windy conditions for the Keelboat Champs held in the Bean Rock area last weekend and run by the Royal Akarana Yacht Club. Windy conditions meant no spinnakers for most of the first day but the 'light' youth team hung in there to win the last race of day 1. In the 9 boat fleet they finished a commendable 7th overall, the National title going to Phil Douglas and his team. It was a great experience for Tom & team - also competing against 4 youth training programme graduates Laurie Jury, James Glidden, Dave Swete & Sharon Ferris.

You can check out the results on www.rayc.org.nz.
This Youth team will also represent the LION FOUNDATION Youth Training Programme in the New Zealand Match Racing Championship held between the 24 - 27 November at the RNZYS. They will be up against last year Champion - Dean Barker, the winner of the MRX Winter Match Racing Series - Adam Minoprio, Simon Minoprio, Takumi Nakamura, Laurie Jury & skippers from the Qualifier Series.

HARBOUR BRIDGE PRECAUTIONARY AREA
Please be aware that when traveling through the Harbour Bridge Precautionary Area (Main Span) all Yachts / Craft should keep to the south side of the main span and this will allow ferries, etc to go through the north side of the main span.

We are working together with the Harbour Masters Office to ensure that our yachts during pre-start do not 'get in the way' of ferries and that the ferries have a clear passage through the north side of the main span.

This is especially highlighted for FIRST MOBILE Wednesday Series races with over 100 boats around the harbour bridge are before the start.

Play your part in keeping the harbour safe!
