Balmain Regatta this weekend

18f footers Balmain Regatta Balmain Sailing Club
The Balmain Sailing Club in association with The Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital would like to announce that the oldest regatta in Australia and, a unique celebration of Sydney’s sailing history is on this weekend.

This year’s Balmain Regatta will be held this Sunday the 30th of October on the Balmain peninsula. The Regatta has a long and colourful history that extends back to the last century and is a free community event for all Sydney residents to enjoy.

The Regatta features teams from local Sydney and in particular Balmain, sailing clubs, pubs, service clubs and community groups pitted against each other in a series of sailing races. The day’s events will showcase the complete antique 18 foot and 10 foot skiff fleets, historical dinghies from yester-year plus at-least 100 other yachts and dinghies from Balmain and surrounding sailing clubs.

In addition to the racing on the day, volunteers and sponsors will combine to ensure that a wide selection of food and beverages are available throughout the day. The event will also feature an exciting, non-stop entertainment program and a raffle with very cool prizes.

Our aim is to raise as much funding, sponsorship and support as is possible to ensure that not only the event but also our associated charity, the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation, excel on the day.

We need cash and in-kind sponsors, guest celebrities, performers and community groups as well as individuals who may be interested in sailing on the yachts or better still on the antique skiffs. Cash sponsorship and donations to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation would also be welcome.
