Silver and Bronze for GBR at Laser Master Worlds

On the last day of Laser Masters Worlds, Britain took three medals, two silver and a bronze. For Britain the best placed were Nick Livingstone, second in the Standard Laser Grand Master, and Keith Wilkins third. Steve Cockerill was second in the Laser Radial, Apprentice.

The Australians, favorites since the beginning of the competition, occupied first place on the podium in five of the eight categories, Brett Beyer, Mark Bethwaite, Kerry Waraker, Peter Heywood and Lyndal Patterson taking gold. The other three categories were led by Murray Thom and Mark Orams, from New Zealand, and Alexander Nikolaev, from Russia.

The 2005 Laser Masters World Championships began on 22 September with the competition for the Laser Seniors Worlds, when Robert Scheidt won his eighth world title. The second championship, the Laser Masters Worlds, began on 2 October. In December, the championship continues in Fortaleza with more two championships: Radial Open & Women (from 2 to 9 Dec) and Radial Youth (from 10 to 17 Dec).
