Ready to race-icemaker on

Cruising Division startline at Hamilton Island - 2005 Hahn Premium Race Week Jack Atley http://www.jackatley.com
Sydney sailor Michael Milne’s Jeanneau 52 Jamata leads the Hahn Premium Race Week cruising fleet after four glorious races in the winter sunshine at Hamilton Island for the 90+ boat fleet.

Milne and his crew are enjoying the weather so far. ‘This is our second year at Hamilton Island, but one of our crew has done eight Race Weeks in a row and he reckons today’s race was the best fun of all those years. Of course the win today makes it feel even better.

‘Our cruisers name is Jamata, it loosely translates from the Japanese as 'see you later'

Milne explains ‘its not in the sense of this girl sailing away from the fleet is actually the reverse. We are usually left behind. It’s the air-conditioning, the generator, the television, and the barbecue. Today we had 11.5 knots on the spinnaker run across to Pine Island. Not bad for a fat cruising boat.

‘To be truthful, Jamata is in race configuration this week. Her icemaker in the ‘on’ position.’

Today is Whitehaven Beach Party Day; racing recommences on Friday morning and concludes on Saturday.
