The Victorian Marine industry is gearing up for the Melbourne Club Marine Sail Boat Show to be held on March 19th and 20th 2005 at the Sandringham Yacht Club.

Expected to attract in excess of 10,000 visitors over the two days, The Sail Boat Show’s in-water, hardstand and off the beach display areas will be transformed into a playground of more than 150 individual exhibitor displays from around the country.

A comprehensive line-up of in-water exhibits, showcasing the best sailboats in the country, include Sydney Yachts, Beneteau, Elan, Catalina, Bavaria, DK, Mumm, Hansie, Austral, Hunter and Jeanneau.

For wooden boat lovers, the Wooden Boat Shop and the Couta Boat Association will have numerous boats on display, while Main Ship & Sunrunner will have a fantastic display of power cruise boats in-water as well.

Boat Show Alley houses 61 exhibit displays in the main marquee and those displaying their wares include Navman, Sunsail, Club Marine, Volvo Penta, Ronstan, Raymarine, International Paints, and brands encompassing books, sailmakers, engines, refrigeration, merchandise, footwear, and chandleries.

Come and check out the latest designs and technical brilliance as showcased by 50 of the biggest company names in the industry.

Exciting elements at the Show include the new and unique Show Chalet on water marquee. Exhibitors include the Melbourne Stopover Volvo Ocean Race, Waterfront City and the Osaka Cup Ocean Race 2007.

Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, John So, will launch the Osaka Cup 2007 and interested entrants are invited to attend the show to pick up all the latest race information.

Sandringham YC member and Around the World single-handed sailor, Jesse Martin, will be on hand for book signings throughout the show, as well as promoting his new PNG Charter business. Sandringham Yacht Club will also display their conceptual designs for the proposed new clubhouse 2007.

All show visitors will have the opportunity to ‘Come Try Sailing’. A fleet of 16 dinghy’s (Optimists, Pacers and Access Dinghy's), will be available throughout the show at advertised times, so you can hop in and try sailing in a controlled environment. Visit the Off the Beach section of the show, Saturday & Sunday 11am-1pm & 3pm-5pm.

The SYC Club Marine Boating Academy will launch its fleet of six First Class 7.5m Beneteaus. Witness the launch of these boats and sign up for Learn to Sail courses, training and skills development courses or action packed corporate team building days.

By attending the Sail Boat Show, you have the chance to win a five-night Bareboat (self sail) Charter Holiday with Sunsail from either the Whitsunday's, or Sydney Harbor aboard a three-cabin Jeanneau or Beneteau yacht. The value of the prize is in excess of $3,000. Every show visitor can enter the draw, so take the time to enter by visiting the Sunsail exhibit in Boat Show Alley.

Other show highlights include the Bunnings Boat Building Competition (Saturday 10am), Nautical Fashion Shows daily at 1.30pm and 3.30pm, Roaming Live Entertainment, Face Painting, Model Yachts and refreshments.

The annual Volvo Penta Schools Regatta will also be staged at 1pm on both the Saturday and Sunday and anyone in attendance is invited to register their interest in participating.

As more and more people are participating in sailing and boating related activities for recreation or as a sport, the Club Marine Sail Boat Show presents in one location a wealth of information with professional advice to help visitors decide on the activity that suits their interest and lifestyle.

It is therefore a show not to be missed, as there is something for everyone and in particular, by those who simply like doing nothing better than just messing around in boats.

The Show program is out now in the March edition of Australian Sailing magazine and is a 26-page full color guide to the show including what's on, exhibitor listings and product profiles. Visitors receive a complimentary copy upon entering the show.

If you are a sailor, boat owner, involved in the industry in some way, or interested in getting involved in sailing, do not miss this show, it will be an absolute ripper and a great day out for the whole family.
