Tropical storm warning in effect Port of New Bedford
The Port of New Bedford is keeping a close eye on the track of Hurricane Jose. We encourage everyone to starting preparing for what could be a major storm tomorrow and Wednesday.
A Tropical Storm Warning is currently in effect for the area from Watch Hill, Rhode Island, to Hull, Massachusetts, including Block Island, Martha`s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.
Wind - Per the wind forecast in the Tropical Storm Warning Statement for our immediate area, peak winds expected to be 15-25 mph, possibly higher, with gusts to 50 mph. Timing: Late Tuesday into Wednesday.
These winds may be strong enough to result in some downed trees, large branches, and power lines, resulting in scattered power outages.
Rain - Ranging from 1 – 2 inches to 4 – 7 inches on the upper end, depending on the actual track of the storm.
The heavy rain, especially Tuesday night and Wednesday, may cause localized flash flooding in poor drainage areas
