Reputations damaged in Rolex Trophy Race 5

by Al Constable on 18 Dec 2004
Some top class sailors are having an ordinary Rolex Trophy regatta, in this last weekend of sailing before the 2004 Rolex Sydney to Hobart race.

Look at the placings in race 5 below.

Targé, the former Wild Oats , Admirals Cup champion and dual Strathfield Pittwater Coffs champion made her opposition look fairly ordinary this morning and the 2005 Strathfield Pittwater Coffs entrant, the Swan 45 Ginger rubbed salt into the wound with an excellent second place.

Matt Allen’s Ichi Ban sailed a good race, as did the two Farr 40’s and David Mason’s Prime Time was back on the course. It was good to see that Felix Scheder-Bieschin is making progress in sorting out his brand new Marten 49 Vineta.

However, the decks might be blistering on Aera, the pride of British IRC racing and Ragamuffin, part of the Yachting Australia selected Australian Team for the Rolex series.

Both these boats were beaten by the Hamilton Island sponsored Team Melbourne Uni crew on the Sydney 38 Another Challenge, with not a single Sydney to Hobart race between the entire crew.
