Celebrating 30 years of Wildwind Sailing Holidays!

2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Wildwind Sailing Holidays in Vassiliki, on the Greek island of Lefkas. The Wildwind team will be celebrating every week of the season with guests old and new, but from the 26th June to 2nd July there will be an 'official 30th anniversary week' running alongside the Vassiliki Festival. This involves racing in three classes, as well as excellent off-the-water entertainment including live music from a splendid David Bowie tribute band, and much more.

'Thirty years on we don't think there's anywhere on earth that matches sailing in Vassiliki and if you've visited us you'll know that our staff, location and range of equipment really does take some beating... after all we've had a while to perfect it!'

Simon Morgan – Founder of Wildwind Sailing Holidays

Here is a full outline of the programme for the week:

On the water:

  • Catamaran Racing Regatta: Wednesday 28 June – Saturday 1 July
  • Laser & Dinghy Racing Regatta: Wedneday 28 June – Saturday 1 July

  • Youth and Childrens Regatta: Saturday 1 July – Sunday 2 July
  • Free Sailing Lessons for kids and adults: Thursday 29 June – Friday 30 June

  • Prize-giving for kids races at Town Hall: 5pm, Sunday 2 July

Testimonials:

'We're having a great time. It's the fourth time I've been here now and it's the only place we've ever come back to. I think that says a lot for Wildwind and the staff here. The staff are great, they know us now. We always get greeted by name as we arrive. We love going out sailing with them. They're some of the best sailors I've come across and brilliant teachers so it's really a fantastic place to come to.'

Andrew Repton, company Director

'There are so many things that keep me coming back each year. The boats, the wind and the staff are just the start. Vass is simply a special place.'

Richard Thoroughood, coach and Tornado sailor

'The only trouble with a Wildwind holiday is that now no other holiday will do!'

Hazel Beard, Teacher

'I think it's phenomenal. There are so many boats here, all different types. You can almost always find something you like to sail or something new.'

Joe Cross, Engineer

'I just want to thank you so much for our stay at your beautiful place. What a lovely environment you've created - in terms of aesthetics, ambience and the vibe', it ticks all the boxes. We all had an absolute ball frolicking around in the water. No wonder you have such a high return rate.'

Jed Novick, writer

About Wildwind Sailing Holidays:

30 years ago Simon Morgan, the company's founder, took a sabbatical from work in London to compete in major sailing events including a 727 mile non-stop race in a Hobie 16 from Miami to Fort Walton beach. On his travels in his VW campervan, he stumbled across a windy place called Vassiliki... and he's never looked back since.

Our sailing locations are in Vassiliki, on the Greek island of Lefkas where our flagship centre has been running since 1987, and in Mont Choisy, on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius where we offer sailing holidays all year long.
