WMRT - Shifts, change but all the same on Day 2 of Cape Crow Cup

by Aston Harald on 25 Sep 2016
World Match Racing Tour - Cape Crow Cup - Day 2 WMRT
Day number two of the Cape Crow Cup could easily carry the headline of challenging when it comes to the racing conditions. The wind started from the northwest and shifted slowly and inconsistently to the southwest.

This made the race course difficult to master. Results wise its been ups and downs with everyone winning and loosing, in the end one team is looking strong and solid, so not much change at the top.

David Gilmour (AUS) is sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard with his only loss in this regatta so far coming against Philip Bendon (IRL). Gilmour’s solid performance has put him in a commanding position for a Semi Final berth tomorrow. Bendon Race Team who have been struggling to adjust to match racing the M32s took another heavy weight win today when they also beat Essiq Racing, skippered by Nicklas Dackhammar (SWE). Dackhammar who had two wins and two losses today still has a good chance to make it into the Semi Finals as he has a two point lead over Måns Holmberg (SWE) and the Typhoon X crew.

Torvar Mirsky (AUS) who had plenty of onboard talent is piecing the team work together nicely. With his star-studded crew Mirsky managed to achieve the same score as David Gilmour and sits on three wins and one loss for the day. This put him on the same score as Hans Wallén giving them both a good position to get in to the knockouts tomorrow afternoon.

The forecast is looking good for the last day of the Cape Crow Cup increasing the chances of holding the Semi-finals and Finals. In the morning the last matches of the round robin will be completed before heading into the deciding matches of the event.
