Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell have won SKUD18 two-person keelboat bronze at the Rio 2016 Paralympic sailing regatta today (Saturday 17 September).
All results are provisional and subject to protest.
Rickham and Birrell finished fourth in the final race of their 11 race series on Guanabara Bay today to end the Games with the same coloured medal that they won at London 2012.
The Brits went into racing in third overall, a point behind John McRoberts and Jackie Gay (CAN) in second and with Monika Gibes and Piotr Cichocki (POL) four points off the medals in fourth spot.
But a third in today’s race for McRoberts and Gay, combined with Gibes and Cichocki not being able to put enough boats between themselves and their medal rivals despite winning the race to get onto the podium, saw the provisional final standings of Dan Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch (AUS) taking gold, McRoberts and Gay silver and the Brits the bronze.
Rickham and Birrell were competing at their third Games, having made their debut at Beijing 2008, where they finished fifth.
