11 Classes to Compete at the 2016 NSW Youth Championships Robin Evans
2016 New South Wales Youth Championships - Enter the New South Wales Youth Championships now for your chance to win a Gill prize pack valued at over $350. All entries received before the end of August will automatically go in the draw to win the prize pack which includes a wetsuit, sailing shoes, gloves and a hat.

The 2016 NSW Youth Championships will be held at George’s River Sailing Club from Saturday 1 October through until Monday 3 October with the challenging waters of Botany Bay set to provide competitors with the ultimate sailing competition attracting interstate and international participants.

Last year in excess of 250 competitors took part in the three day state championships across nine different classes including Optimist Green Fleet which caters for first time competitive sailors.

Australian Sailing Performance Manager, Mark Robinson, said that these Youth Championships are a great way for sailors to ease into competition formats.

“The NSW Youth Championships are a pivotal stepping stone for youth sailors to experience a top level competitive environment early in the summer season,” Robinson said.

“These Youth Champs are also a great opportunity for new Club based sailors to get out, have some fun and learn more about racing against some of the best in the country, who knows where our next Olympian will come from, these competition opportunities are a great way to uncover talent and provide guidance to those who may already be on that path.”

NSW Regional Manager, Declan Brennan is also looking forward to what the event has to offer on and off the water with a range of activities being organised onshore.

“This event is all about giving our youth sailors the opportunity to experience the great sport of sailing,” Brennan said. “The NSW Youth Championships are as much about pathways as what they are about getting out on the water and having fun in your dinghy.

“With a large range of classes on offer the Youth Championships really do provide something for everyone and regardless of your ability we encourage everyone to have a go and be involved.

“George’s River Sailing Club are renowned for hosting brilliant events such as this and we are thrilled that they are once again on board.”

If you wish to get involved and volunteer at the 2016 NSW Youth Championships you can fill out an online form and be a part of this annual youth event.

The NSW Youth Championships are proudly supported by the NSW Government through Transport for NSW, Nautilus Marine Boat Insurance, Gill Marine Technical Clothing, Steve Jarvin Motors, Tohatsu Outboards, Lejen Marine and Sydney Harbour Boat Storage.
