Eduardo Cordero is a six-time North American Champ!

Eduardo Cordero - North American Champion Sunfish Class
Eduardo Cordero, an eight-time Sunfish World Champion, is now a six-time North American Champion. The Alabama resident took control of the regatta on day one and controlled a strong field of 60 boats from seven nations.

The four-day event featured a range of conditions; something for every sailor. From light (hot!) Southeasterlies on Wednesday to a honking northerly that died out on Day 3 back to the South for two races on Saturday, Cordero was the top sailor each day of the regatta. And he did it with an impressive young corps of Peruvians on his heels at every tack, rounding and start. But he was too much for the young South Americans and the rest of the fleet, finishing with a net of 27 points in 11 races. Incredibly, he threw out a seven.

Second through fourth place went to Peruvians: Caterina Romero (48 points), Alonso Collantes (65 points) and Jean Paul de Trazegnies (66 points). The USA's Eugene Schmitt was fifth with 71 points.

Connie Miller and the Lewes Yacht Club were amazing hosts, keeping the fleet well fed on shore and well hydrated on the water. Races were well managed, especially given the shifty conditions and one - two knot current.
