“The response this year has been fantastic,” said Mr. Byron Jones, Managing Director of organisers Media Business Services Co. Ltd. (MBS). A rush of entries from sailors in the last couple of weeks as the Early Bird deadline approached (and which is now closed), has resulted in a bumper entry list for the 13th Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek.

Leading the racing fleet are the two TP52's of Oi! (2015 winner) and Millennium Racing II (ex-Kodo, ex-Team Origin), which is now owned by Ray Roberts.

The 'Roaring Forties' in IRC Racing II sees a strong line-up of experienced sailors as well as some new additions, including BeauX Esprits, Fujin, Balance, Popeye, Slipstream and Emagine. These will be joined by the Mumm 30 Foreign Affair and the sportsboat Crime Scene.

In IRC Cruising the two Farr 1104s's of Piccolo and Sailescapes Farrgo Express line-up against Raincloud, Selma and Lady Bubbly, while Venture (2015 winner), Alexa, Kantus Bride and Fei Jian make-up the Charter/Bareboat class.

A strong turnout in the Firefly 850 class includes last year's winner Twin Sharks up against Voodoo, Moto Inzi, Blue Nose and Mil Grace. In the Multihull Racing class Stealth cats from the Asia Catamarans yard of Java, Top Cat and Asia Catamarans Hurricane (2015 winner) will take on DaVinci, Adrenalin, Tantrum Too and the newly launched SeaCart 30 Thor.

In the one-design fleets, the Corsair Pulse 600's are firming up and the new Platu one-design class has six entries including Ladies Team The Fox, Tornado, Tuay Lek, Nataya, The Weasel and The Dragon. More entries are expected - to see the current list for all classes, go to http://phuketraceweek.com/entries-2016/
Note: Class splits are not final and will be decided by the Race Management Team once all entries are in.

“As we head into the final month of preparations we are very happy with the entries so far and know of more that are planning to come,” added Jones.
