Morgan Lagravière, on his monohull, Safran, crossed the finish line of the Transat New York - Vendée on Sunday, June 12 at 03:39:45 (French time) after 13 days, five hours and 59 minutes of racing. He finished ninth in his first solo transat race on Safran.
After suffering damage to his foil the day after the start, following a collision with an object or unidentified animal, Lagravière had to turn back to Newport. Restarting the race just over a hundred miles behind four other competitors, he had the opportunity to compete against StMichel-Virbac (Jean Pierre Dick) and Quéguiner – Leucémie Espoir (Yann Eliès), finally managing to beat both.
This solo transat is another successful step in Lagravière’s preparation for the next Vendée Globe.
