Raya hangs on tight to defend the title of Melges 20 World Series

Matteo Marenghi Vaselli's Raya hangs on tight to first place in the International Class' World Series ranking as the World Championship draws ever closer.

With the third sanctioned event on the European schedule now complete (2016 Sailing Series® Melges 20 Porto Ercole, on 6-8 May), the Monegasque team of Matteo Marenghi Vaselli, Leonardo Chiarugi and Alessandro Franci aboard Raya are managing to successfully maintain their top position on the International Melges 20 Class' World Series ranking.

Marenghi Vaselli is keeping a close eye on the competition as the points gap is dwindling. In second overall, Guido Miani on Out of Reach has moved up from seventh to second with the full anticipation of taking over first place. Third place now belongs to the dynamic Russian entry of Igor Rytov on Russian Bogatyrs.

The Corinthian ranking remains unchanged with John Brown on Blind Squirrel in first followed by Johannes Lind-Widestam on Intermezzo and Canada's Paul Currie on Wild Deuces sharing second place tied in points.

The 2016 Melges 20 World Series includes a total of 14 events - seven in Europe, six in North America and one in Japan.
