World Wakeboard Association announces host for Nautique European Pro

Today, the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) announced the second stop of the 2016 Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) presented by Rockstar will make its highly anticipated stop in Ferreira do Zezere, Portugal on June 10-12 for the Nautique European Pro Am. The event will coincide as the third round of the Nautique Wake Series and is set to take place on the popular waters of Castelo do Bode. The WBWS is compromised of seven world-class events that host wakeboarding’s elite athletes competing at the sport’s highest level.
Ferreira do Zezere will once again host one of the most prestigious wakeboarding events in the world, which will showcase this region of Portugal as one of the best tourist destinations for who those who seek outstanding conditions to practice wakeboarding. The WWA Nautique European Pro Am, aligned with the soon to be open Wakeboard Resort, will undoubtedly enrich what the Castelo do Bode Lake has to offer tourists.
“It’s going to be awesome having Portugal as the host of this years Nautique European Pro Am,” said Shannon Starling, WWA President. “The facility is located in one of the most beautiful settings in the world and our goal is to provide riders and fans of all ages the experience of a lifetime in a family oriented environment and continue our strategic plan to develop Portugal as a premier destination for the sport in Europe.”
The award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 continues to push wakeboarding’s progression and will provide riders in every division the platform to perform at their absolute best at each stop of the Nautique Wake Series. The Nautique Wake Series is the only event series in 2016 that gives riders of all ages, gender and skill level the opportunity to compete at an elite level. Each event will feature all amateur divisions in addition to Jr. Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Wakeskate and Pro Men. Amateur preliminary rounds will take place on Friday, while Saturday will feature Amateur Finals and preliminary Professional rounds with the final rounds of action taking place on Sunday.
“I’m looking forward to the Nautique European Pro Am making its upcoming stop in Portugal,” said Team Nautique Rider Meagan Ethell. “The event is one of my favorite stops on the tour and presents riders of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to compete in similar conditions to the pro’s. There will be no shortage of action riding behind the incredible wake of the Super Air Nautique G23.”
Registration for all divisions riding on Friday, June 10 will close at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 9.
Registration for all divisions riding on Saturday, June 11 will close at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, June 10.
Athletes will not be able to register on the day of the event, so please take notice of the deadlines listed.
