Victoria’s newest marina at Wyndham Harbor was officially opened this morning by the current Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas. The marina, situated on the western shores of Port Phillip is Located near Werribee, one of the fastest growing areas of Australia which is recording 30 new arrivals every day.
Wyndham Harbor, a $440m world class residential and marina development has been the subject of major infrastructure development since construction started in 2011. The marina has been openly welcomed by the boating community as a destination, but also as a much-needed safe harbor between Melbourne and Geelong.
Stage one sees 150 modern floating berths and once fully completed Wyndham harbor will be the largest marina in Victoria with 1000 wet berths, dry storage for more than 350 boats and state-of-the-art facilities including a fuel dock. Future development includes plans for a commuter ferry service between Wyndham Harbour and docklands that will transport commuters into the CBD in around 45 minutes.
In officially opening the facility Tim Pallas said that Port Phillip, especially the western side, was a community asset that was essentially still a ‘blank canvas’, was under utilized and suffered from under investment. He added that all Victorians should see Wyndham Harbor as a collective asset to be enjoyed by all.
