BRYD to showcase three catamarans at International Multihull Show

In the Multihull Club Design space, the multidisciplinary team at Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design will be showcasing three very different catamarans: the brand new Lucia 40 from the Fountaine Pajot yard, a 110-foot One-Off designed for the Chinese yard Ruying Yacht and a rapprochement with the Dutch yard Holland Jachtbouw that is as interesting as it is unique. The Lucia 40, the 110' Ruying Yacht and the Holland Jachtbouw project: three creations, three responses to some radically different design briefs, which have made full use of the multidisciplinary skills of Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design. Whether it is a production boat or a One-Off, all their expertise has been brought into play in terms of architecture, exterior or interior design so as to fit each client's brief in style.

Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design was one of the first naval architecture firms to fully integrate a team of multidisciplinary designers. That was some five years ago already. Today, the symbiosis between these different skill sets enables them to have a comprehensive, optimised understanding for all remits.

The seventh edition of the Multihull Show will be an opportunity to discover three of their latest creations where naval architecture, exterior and interior design come together in sublime fashion.

The Lucia 40: light and chic
For the Lucia 40, a new entry-level product from the Fountaine-Pajot yard showcased at the last Nautic Paris boat show, the aim was to design a youthful, dynamic and light silhouette that essentially expands on the look of the small production catamarans. 'We've put a lot of work into the boat's profile to create a new style of coachroof and to assert her dynamism', explains the Principal, Olivier Racoupeau.

The atmosphere of the boat's interior has also been revamped by the firm's designers: 'For example we've integrated matt finish wood and some wonderfully tactile ‘grip touch' paint... It's pretty chic and really qualitative', interior designer Isabelle Racoupeau comments.

The 110' Ruying Yacht, a first!
The big challenge of this very first collaboration between the firm from La Rochelle and a Chinese yard for a yacht of this scale, was to successfully integrate a voluminous, comfortable owner's section and discreet, aesthetic lines. 'We're proud of the fact that we've managed to create an elegant double-deck', says Olivier smiling.

Meantime, the interior fit-out has yet to be finalised. Several styles have been put forward, both classic and modern, but always with a selection of precious materials and an extremely well-crafted finish: 'The varnishes are ultra glossy or ultra matt, with luxury fabrics (silk, linen...), rugs and carpets. The linings are made of leather and the cabinetwork is particularly fine...', the designer points out.

Holland Jachtbouw and Berret Racoupeau: a dynamic mix
Dutch excellence combined with French expertise - such is the nature of this rapprochement of the much renowned Holland Jachtbouw yard and Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design. Their joint project aims to build on the solid foundations of their respective expertise to break new ground... We cannot give any further details about this collaboration for now, but the aim is to develop a new kind of cruising catamaran that is high-tech, lightweight and high performance.
