2016 F16 Cat Championship - Over the Easter long weekend and after a long Regatta season the F16 Catamarans all Goodall Vipers headed down to the waters of the Gippsland Lakes located three hours east of Melbourne hosted by the Gippsland Lakes YC.

This year a small fleet assembled but of a very high standard. Conditions ranged from eight - eighteen knots over the three days of racing with 20 deg shifts the norm over the course and 12 races.

Jack Felsenthal with new crew Sean Connor mastered the conditions the best posted results in the top three in all races ensuring the overall win. Closely following and finishing in second was Goodall Designs's Brett Goodall/ Crista Van Helden showing superb spinnaker work throughout the racing. In third position was top female Viper skipper Tayla Rietman/ Gavin Rietman battling it out with Top Junior Skipper 13 Yo Jack Challands/Harrison Rietman and Chelsea Haynes/Nathan Penno all exchanging positions at various times.

The Classes President had on board first time crew 14Yo Chris Campbell who over the three days enjoyed the challenge of these high performance Cats. Also first time combination of Claire Campbell/ James Moeller excelling in the competitive fleet .

A big thanks to the members of Gipplsand Lakes YC for a great event. With two crews to attend the 2016 F16 World's in Belguim in July Australia will be well represented.

Australia will be bidding for the F16 Worlds in 2018 which will be held in Melbourne so this exciting class will see growth over the next few years.
