New RS300 at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show launches an exciting year

by RS300 class on 8 Mar 2016
RS300 new boat Oli Harris
A rather special RS300 was on show this weekend on the RS Sailors stand in main hall at RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show. The owner, Oli Harris, and fellow RS300 sailors Steve Bolland, Pete Ellis and Peter Mackin manned “Ellie”, the new boat from the Boat Yard at Beer, over the weekend ready to answer questions about the boat, the 2016 circuit and anything else RS300 related.

Oli explained how he chose the colour scheme because it echoes the Gulf Racing GT40 Le Mans cars and he plans to be that fast on the water!

Last year over 40 helms contested the Magic Marine Grand Prix circuit and 30 boats took part in the Volvo Noble Marine National Championship. In 2016 the Magic Marine Grand Prix circuit takes in venues from the South coast (Lymington) to Scotland (Prestwick), from the East (Hykeham) to the West (Bristol Corinthian), a Northern double-header (Sheffield Viking and Glossop) as well as a sprinkling of others including the season kick-off at Stewartby, a new venue for the class. Encompassing both one-day and two-day events, as well as traditional racing the circuit also includes innovative formats such as sprint and slalom events.

The highlight of the season will undoubtedly be the Volvo Noble Marine National Championship at Exe SC on 8-11 September. 25 helms have already indicated they’ll be going with official entry opening soon. Accommodation is booking up fast so make sure you grab yours soon!
