The World Wakeboard Association (WWA) today announced the promotion of Corrie Wilson to the position of Executive Director. She becomes the first woman in the modern history of wakeboarding to hold this prestigious position.
“I am proud to promote Corrie to her new position,” said Shannon Starling, WWA President. “She is a tremendous asset to the WWA and is an integral part of our team. Corrie’s experience as a rider coming up through the ranks, as well as her knowledge of what it takes to put on an event makes her a perfect fit for her new role.”
As the WWA Executive Director, Wilson will shift her focus more on the day-to-day mission of the WWA and it’s grassroots participation and growth. Corrie will be taking a lesser role in the event production of the WWA’s larger events, such as WBWS and WPWS, but ultimately will be responsible for overall general direction of the wakeboard sanctioning body.
“I’m excited to be able to focus more on the future of our sport, which includes helping dealers, event organizers, and riders who create and participate in the WWA’s vast network of global amateur events,” stated Wilson.
Wilson assumed the role January 1st of 2016 and has already played an integral role in developing various new programs geared towards improved support for event organizers, educating and encouraging riders, and creating a marketing campaign that is designated to increase new event organizers interactions within their local markets.
