RYA Sail for Gold Ball – Usually a celebration of US independence, this 4th July will see the British sailing community come together in London to celebrate the sailors of the Olympic and Paralympic teams striving to sail for gold at Rio 2016.

The Sail for Gold Ball, held only in each Olympic year, serves as both a British Sailing Team fundraiser and a celebratory send-off for the selected Games sailors, this time on their way to Rio in pursuit of gold in their respective 10 Olympic and three Paralympic events.

This year the Ball will be delighted to welcome new patrons Iain Percy OBE and Adam and Sarah Gosling OBE who join long term supporters Sir Charles Dunstone, David and Patsy Franks, Richard Matthews, Barry and Fianne Stanford, and David Tydeman among others.

Special guests from the worlds of commerce, politics, the arts and the media are expected to join patrons, corporate partners, supporters and the team in this unique celebration of British Sailing. Funds raised from the Ball help to support future generations of British Sailing talent achieve their medal-winning ambitions.

Under new management for 2016, the Ball will be held at the London Hilton on Park Lane on 4th July and is shaping up to be a fantastic night. Combining established traditions with new and updated aspects to the night, it’s one not to miss.

“We’re excited and honoured to be delivering this event on behalf of the RYA and are committed to delivering a very special night for the team and their supporters,” commented Event Director Julia Phillips. “With Rio as a destination we’ve been able to have some fun with the entertainment whilst also preparing a fitting celebration for the British team.”
