2016 Primo Cup - Three days of Melges 20 racing in Monaco this forthcoming weekend at the prestigious Primo Cup (12-14 February) will officially mark and launch the 2016 European Sailing Series. It will be an intense road that leads up to the 'main event' - the 2016 Melges 20 World Championship taking place on 25-28 August hosted by Club Nautico Scarlino at Marina di Scarlino.

The Primo Cup serves as the final act of the Jefferson Capital Monaco Winter Series prompting the return of some of the fleet's most powerful and impressive competitors - each one ready to face off for the first victory of the year. In the end, the verdicts and balance of power will emerge and there will be a supreme winner from a remarkable field of players.

In the Italian corner, the fleet looks to the witness great racing from teams such as 2014 Primo Cup Champion Manfredi Vianini Tolomei on Maolca, and Mirko Bargolini on Spirit of Nerina. Runner up at the 2014 Worlds - Achille Onorato on Mascalzone Latino, Jr. will be looking to get the year started with a winning performance with Cameron Appleton aboard as tactician.

In addition, expect to see the all three winners of the first three Monaco Winter Series events - Vladmir Prosikin on Nika, Alexander Ezhkov's Pirigovo, hometown favorite Guido Miani's Out of Reach as well as Russia's Valentin Zavadnikov and Matteo Tenti on Synergy.

The international Melges 20 fleet also anticipates the presence of Richard Davies' Section 16, Sweden's Johannes Lind-Widestam on Intermezzo, Waldemar Salata on Startelekom to make this a truly diverse and well deserved Primo Cup victory.
