Middle Harbour Yacht Club’s (MHYC) Commodore Ian Box today announced that the International Property Group, Savills have confirmed their Sponsorship of the Club’s Short Ocean Racing Championship (formerly known as the JP Morgan Regatta). The Savills Regatta is scheduled for November 27 and November 28, 2004.

The Savills Regatta will be the first major grand prix event leading up to the Summer’s big ocean races including the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the Strathfield Pittwater to Coffs Race and is expected to attract the cream of Australia’s offshore and one-design fleets.

Savills is one of the leading firms of international property consultants and real estate agents in the world. With offices and associates throughout the UK, Europe, Australasia and Africa, Savills holds a powerful global position.

In Australia, Savills is one of the country’s largest commercial property consultants. With a national presence, the organisation has grown rapidly since its first entrée into Australia in 1993. Savills specialises in asset sales and acquisitions, valuations and management across retail, commercial and the industrial property sectors.

From 2002-2004 Savills has transacted over $1.25 billion dollars worth of office buildings in Sydney’s CBD, and were responsible for $450.7m of the $842.6m worth of major office sales by agents in the Sydney CBD during the 2003/04 financial year.

Savills also has one of the largest property management portfolios in the country currently managing over 3 million square metres of property throughout Australia including over 170 shopping centres.

Speaking from his Sydney office today Savills CEO, Walter Carpenter said, 'Savills is delighted to announce the Savills Regatta 2004, our association with Middle Harbour Yacht Club and our contribution to the sport of yacht racing.'

The Savills Regatta is a grand prix event and ranks as one of Australia’s most prestigious events. This year’s event is expected to attract around 85 yachts and includes a new division of the spectacular V060 Round the World Yachts.

Racing will be held offshore over 2 courses with the exception of the V060’s, which will make their spectacular start from within the harbour before sailing a long leg to either Palm Beach or Botany.

The Savills Regatta will include a Saturday evening beach party for competitors sponsored by Inner Circle Rum.

The Savills Regatta 2004 prize presentation will be held on the Sunday evening at 17:00 hours at MHYC.

The Event website will be managed by Sail-World. www.sail-world.com/fpdsavillsregatta2004.

The Savills program will be produced by Australian Yachting and Competitors Notice of Race will be available shortly.
