London Boat Show 2016 – Plymouth’s Mayflower Marina narrowly missed out on a hat trick after being awarded runner-Up in the 2016 UK Coastal Marina of the Year Award. Having won the prestigious award in 2014 and again in 2015 it was fingers crossed for 2016, but it was not to be!

Charles Bush, Managing Director of Mayflower Marina said “It was disappointing not to win but to be runner-up in a National competition is certainly quite an achievement and would indicate that our customer service and facilities are at a consistently high level. I would like to thank our customers for their continued support and my hardworking staff for their efforts over the past year. Lastly, can I congratulate Lymington Yacht Haven on their win.”

The annual award ceremony, organised by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), took place this year at the London Boat Show on 14th January. The awards were presented by Mr David Perfect, Managing Director of GJW Insurance who sponsors the Marina of the Year awards.

Jon White, General Manager of TYHA said “The Marina of the Year Awards are hotly contested and this year has been no exception; we have seen more entries and the number of votes increased by 48 percent! I would like to congratulate Charles and his team at Mayflower Marina on their award this year. As an industry our focus has to be on customer service and facility and these awards are a great opportunity to celebrate success”.

It is a busy awards season for Charles Bush and his team. They are now looking ahead to the South West Tourism Excellence Awards on February 4th where Mayflower Marina is a finalist in the Active and Sporting Experience category.
