They're not made from Carbon Fibre. Rather, they use another, recyclable and organic fibre called, wood! They also do not plane, and in fact, even have lead ballast bars installed in the bilge. At a time when all the modern flyers are showing what technology can do in the Sydney Hobart Race, the Mornington Peninsula South of Melbourne, Australia, is showcasing these classic gems amongst other classes. The Mercedes-Benz of Mornington Couta Boat Australian Championships are being staged out of the beautiful Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club and Alex McKinnon got out on the water to see what it was all about.
