HCW - Heaven Can Wait Charity Sailing Regatta HCW Media
Hi all previous Heaven Can Wait participants, the 2016 Heaven Can Wait Charity Sailing Regatta is just three months away – February 20 / 21, and the entry system is now open so you can put your entry in right now – just click Race Entry or visit website and follow the links for race entry.

The Notice of Race is also on the website or you can go straight to it by clicking notice of race.

2016 will be the 10th anniversary of the running of this regatta and clearly we would like it to be a big one – again raising money for the Hunter Branch of the NSW Cancer Council and more specifically, there Home Help program. The Home Help program provides domestic assistance to recovering (and terminal) cancer patients who – because of their illness or their partners inability due to work commitment in support of the family, are unable to do all the domestic chores they would normally do.

As has always been the case, the HCW Regatta is a fundraising event, and entrants can choose to raise funds through Everydayhero or pay a mandatory donation fee – your preferred option is selected when you complete your entry. Of course, there is trophy for the highest fundraiser - presented on the Sunday following the 24 Hour race.

Each boat entered will receive one top quality long sleeve Burke sailing shirt (white) sponsored by Marmong Point Marina (major sponsor) and Burke Marine – you will be asked for sizes when you complete your entry.

In 2016, we will continue with the normal HCW Regatta format of the One Lap Dash, The 12 Hour and the 24 Hour races.

In addition, we have included a Short One Lap Dash, specifically for slower Trailer Sailer’s and Off the Beach type craft. We also expect to include a Junior’s One Lap Dash specifically tailored for dinghy sailors with a much shorter course. Details of the Juniors One Lap Dash should be available shortly.

As has been the case in previous years, the HCW Regatta will be preceded by the Charity Dinner to be held on the Friday Night (February 19th) at the RMYC Toronto. We have already lined up our first guest for the night, and that is Peter Condy – Performance Director Australia Sailing and Team Manager – Australian Olympic Sailing Team.

So, get the dates in your diaries and your entries in now – the sooner you get your entry in, the sooner you can start the fundraising effort – and be a candidate to with the Fundraisers Trophy.
