Maritime NZ lifejacket competition - Win a day's fishing trip Maritime New Zealand
With the recreational boating season now underway, why not get out on the water get videoing?

The Maritime NZ/Big Angry Fish competition is open till December 11, and is one of the initiatives for the Safer Boating Forum’s summer campaign - launched prior to the traditional Labour Weekend start to the recreational boating season.
Make sure you are wearing your lifejacket - and tell us why it’s important for everyone to wear their lifejacket - and you and a friend could be on your way to a surprise fishing location with Milan and Nathan from TV3’s Big Angry Fish.

Lifejackets save lives – that’s just a fact. Did you know that many boaties are dying in accidents that occur suddenly, with little warning, within 200m of the shore?

TV3’s Big Angry Fish hosts Milan and Nathan are committed to safety, and are true role-models for the advertising campaign that encourages all boaties to: “Get it on, or it’s no good”- Lifejackets for Life . They always wear their lifejackets when the fish are biting on their popular fishing show. And they want your help to spread this important recreational boating safety Click here to view the Big Angry Fish shows.

Make a one minute video that shows Milan and Nathan why you “always wear your lifejacket” and you could win a fantastic day out fishing with them. The prize is a day’s fishing for two, with sponsor Maritime NZ paying the cost of return travel from anywhere in New Zealand to a fishing location chosen by Milan and Nathan. Just think you could be catching snapper and kingfish off the Auckland/Coromandel coastline or chasing the big one in the Bay of Plenty.

The video needs to show you and your mates out on the water fishing with everyone on board wearing a properly-fitted lifejacket. You must say on the video why you: “always wear a lifejacket” and include Maritime NZ’s catch-phrase “Get it on, or it’s no good”.

Your clip needs to be pretty slick, but you only need a smartphone to produce it. You will be able to upload your video for all the world to see (subject to regular terms and conditions).

Milan and Nathan will select the top three, with the final winners decided by Maritime NZ, on the basis of humour, creativity and how that important safety message – “Get it on, or it’s no good” is delivered.

So get creative, get filming … and don’t forget having your lifejacket up the front, or stowed in your boat ain’t going to mean diddly squat if you need it in a hurry.
