Day one of the 2015 Inter-dominion Schools Team Racing Regatta hosted by the Canberra Yacht Club may have been held in a 10 knot dying breeze but the Race Committee managed to start 51 races over the course of the day.
Racing was very close in the Open division with Kiwi team, Marlborough Boys College, just leading over fellow Kiwi team, Kerikeri High School, in a tight battle at the top, with Marlborough winning over Kerikeri in races 16 and 46. However with two days to go Auckland Grammar and The Hutchins School, at third and fourth respectively, will be looking to stake their claim for the top prize.
In the Women’s division it is another all Kiwi affair the top with only one point separating New Plymouth Girls High school and Nelson Collage for Girls. Both of the top teams have won a race against the other, showing the closeness of the racing. All teams remain in contention for the top spot by the end of the regatta.
Day two looks like some lighter breezes but winds are forecasted to come back for the final day on Monday.
